So if I still want AD, which one do I use then?
If you had read ALL :cool: the words the first time I mentioned it, you would have seen that Openfiler meets this requirement, as well as giving you a WHOLE lot more besides. BTW, I already have the .iso downloaded, as well as the update file that updates the RC2 .iso to v1.1.1 final. Both would easily fit onto a single CD, from which you could burn an installation CD, and take it from there. Also, have you got all your hardware 'n stuff lined up, because I would be happy to handle this end-to-end, if there's a shot at earning a bit of a buck (or few!)!

I have a couple of spare PC's, question is how big must the system be? I have 4 250 gig drives, so my storage is sorted.

Nice as branded hardware is, it can be hella expensive! :eek: ..and I looked at the HP offering, no small amount of the cost of that is paying for Windoze 2003 Storage Server (which further raises the question of licencing, CALs and all that (seeing as it always seems to come up with M$ stuff)).

What's the model number of the one you have? ..while you may not be able to get from 18GB (80pin SCSI, yes?) disks (and do you REALLY want to buy 146GB SCSI disks??!) it may be possible to get you something else that'd still get you more space than you have now...

It's the one on the left.

You'd be amazed what a little RTFM gets you...:
Mininimum System Requirements

To ensure your experience with Openfiler is as smooth as possible, please ensure you meet the following minimum system requirements before attempting to perform an installation:

* 500MHz recommended minimum processor speed.
* 128MB of RAM or more
* 1.2GB of available hard disk space for OS and application installation tree
* Single Fast Ethernet interface
* CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive

As to:
I have 4 250 gig drives, so my storage is sorted.
You do realise that "250"gig drives get you 232gigs of real world storage and when you RAID5 4 of those, you sacrifice one to parity - which leaves you with a 3x232=696GB NAS box ..somewhat short of your 1TB, but a damn fine server all the same! (I know I'd want one...)

Yes, I know. But if I got the Baxter Creek from intel, I would have put in more drives. My main issue is that I want AD. Otherwise with the Baxter Creek I would have had to create users on my AD server and on the NAS. That is why I want AD integration.
