NAS4Free changes its name to XigmaNAS

NAS4Free, the continuation of the original FreeNAS project, is changing its name to XigmaNAS:

Again a big change is happening with our project NAS4Free.

As some do know we are working on the trademark for our project,
However we faced some difficulties as we tried to trademark NAS4Free as name.
The uspto has tighten the rules and requirements some time ago so that nowadays
FreeBSD, FreeNAS to name a few you know, they would face the same if it did not exist yet!

The trademark NAS4Free as mark could be merely descriptive!
NAS4Free is an alternate spelling of “NAS FOR FREE” for what one assumes is network attached storage services provided for free.
As such, there is a significant risk that this trademark would be found descriptive.
For that reason and avoid troubles and high cost we came up with a new name and it's Trademark is currently far in progress.

We are now ready and in progress to switch NAS4Free into it's new name XigmaNAS
We will perform a name change on Sourceforge to keep the svn and commits in sync.

I have always just used FreeNAS without trying the alternatives. Does NAS4Free offer advantages over it, i.e. is it worth a try?

I had been using FreeNAS since 2009. I briefly tried "FreeNAS 8.0" when ixSystems released it, but continued using NAS4Free instead.
