Naspers is going after Craigslist: report

Craigslist is an awful site. It manages to make Gumtree look cutting edge for pity's sake. I'm shocked that it's still going strong, but I guess the one big thing it has going for it is the weight of public consensus - everyone in the US uses it so nobody is going to change unless everyone else does. Nothing more useless than a classified site without buyers or sellers.

Craigslist doesn't even make money as far I'm aware. They cover operating expenses with fees for job postings in specific cities but largely users have no fees to pay or even advertising to see.

Apart from the very outdated design and lack of mobility, it works pretty well. I reckon Naspers is going to struggle to get people away from Craigslist unless they're willing to forgo profit for a few years.
