Naspers launches free coding courses for Cape schools

This is cool, but concerning. People will start to do code only because it brings in money, not because they want to do code, which will hurt the industry more than anyone thinks.

And that is why we have framework fatigue, language fatigue and general coding fatigue. Not everyone should be a coder.

Learn to use a pc, learn a new language, learn to solve problems. Nothing wrong with that.

And to anyone that goes, oh you just don't want these kids to get a leg up? Stop being so shortsighted, we need robust services and solutions, not all of these can be solved with code.

Brilliant - we need maths and physics too.

The future of this country is fcked.

I hope this makes a difference, but I don't think it will because the teaching force and the curriculum is not where it must be.

What are you on about? I don't see what this has to do with the future of South Africa? Please explain to a simpleton like me who can't see how a free code course is now the silver bullet?

The next generation is dom as a rock.
