Received spam from some SA company (DaddysDeals.co.za, definitely never opened an account with this company.

The mail sender is just named "chantel" (chantel <[email protected]>) sent using Mandrill.

The link for the promotion forwards to scratchgame.co.za, whois shows the registrant as worldonline.co.za.

Worldonline.co.za whois shows registrant with a mulitchoice.co.za email and name is MWEB Connect.

Am I drawing to conclusions too quickly or does this look like it's a Naspers company?

Pretty damn cheeky from a company you think has enough money already.

@Worldonline.co.za email addresses is allocated to the public just like gmail accounts does. This only gets allocated to clients and not staff.

Worldonline was a UUNET product if I recall correctly.

You can however contact Mweb and open up a case as they are breaking the terms and conditions for using the service if they spam you. How sucessfull you will be is another matter all together, we all know what a labyrinth the Mweb call centre can be.

Thanks. There is no website for worldonline.co.za so wasn't sure where it fit in.

WorldOnline was an ISP (back in the day) that mweb took over at some stage, I can even visualise their black, red and white logo.

Hi All

Just remember that there are thousands of copies of lists which peoples details on them. These lists are then sold from client to client but never deleted. They can go for anything from R10,000 to R100,000. I even know of certain lists which have been stolen illegally by agents which include ID numbers and banking details ( all you need for creating fraudulent sales via debit order ).

I used to work in the call centre industry years ago and we tried to prosecute these types of people but it was impossible. My suggestion is just delete it or request to be removed. this will not be the last time you will be contacted DMA will not help much either.

Good luck

Email server with domain and catchall->1 inbox, use (websitedomain)@domain for each site you register to and you'll find out exactly where that spam comes from :).
