Right so I just got my brother a new pc for christmas:

M3N78 - EM
AMD 2+ 6000
Leadtek 9800GT
2*1GB OCZ Fatality RAM
500W power supply
his Hdd
his Samsung T220

So I let him install windows and all the drivers and that. This morning he comes and asks me for help. The monitor complains that it is not in native resolution (1680 * 1050 [16:10]), so I go to the windows settings and try to change it but the highest one there is 1600 * 900 (and all the other lower 4:3 resolutions), I have no idea what to do now, I have tried re-installing all the display drivers but to no avail.

He has had the same problem with a 6600GT for some odd reason.

If anyone can help me out, this would be greatly appreciated (the card does support the res, I've checked), its kinda a bummer everything looking so horrid and not working up to scratch.

Have you tried installing the drivers that come with the screen?

use the nvidia display control panel instead of windows settings . . .

yes first thing I tried

use the nvidia display control panel instead of windows settings . . .

tried that as well, same resolutions are listed there.

thing is for some reason it is recognising the monitor as a standard monitor and not a widescreen. well thats all that I can think of.

Unclick "Hide unsupported resolutions" or something like that... And set it to the right one?

Thanks, took me a while to find it, but now it all looks great! :D

Enjoy your new year guys!

ok, so maybe I was a little hasty

The screen has now stretched to off the screen, and will now slide to the left or right instead of being one whole screen. I also noticed that the native res in nvidia is 1600 * 1200 (even though it is 1680 * 1050).

Anyone got any new ideas?
