Before I make up my mind on buying this game on sheer principle, I was wondering if any SA players were participating in the Beta or plan on getting it upon release? Would make my decision to buy if for myself and a friend a no brainer this Christmas =)
For those who don't know what Natural Selection 2 is:
It's a Half-Life 2 mod, although can it still be technically called a mod, since it's my understanding that they wrote a new engine for it? If you are familiar with the Empires mod (also for HL2, I believe), its almost like that. RTS / FPS hybrid; superior aliens vs technological humans. Skill ceiling is quite high on this game, especially playing as the commander, I must warn (Which I quite like).
PreOrdering the game nets you an unlock code for Steam to participate in the Beta, which gets an update about every two weeks (Which is massively impressive considering there are only four or five people in the development team), which isn't constricted to bug fixes - content updates being a familiar face as well.
I made the mistake of thinking development for this game was dead last year (Making me miss out on the Special Addition, bah!), because the game's site appeared to have stalled for several months. Don't make the same mistake I did =)
