I have an account with Vodacom for myself and 3 family members.
Knowing about the Content Services "glitch" of subscribing your number for R7 a day to some service I unsubscribed from everything earlier this year and thought I was fine.

Lo and behold this month I notice R7 missing off my account everyday, so I unsubscribe again and get the usual SMS notification of "your request to unsubscribe from all content services have been received. You will receive confirmation of all stopped services soon".
Did this several times and nothing, it also says I'm not subscribed to anything using the Vodacom feature.

Well apparently I was subscribed to something as I got an SMS today saying "Catch-up on the latest NBA action NOW! Click https://watch.nba.com. You're currently subscribed to NBA at R7.00 pd. To cancel visit www.pbm.cx Help? 0800064516"

Clicked the pbm.cx link and had to enter my cell number to get a pin, then clicked through the online profile to unsubscribe there. The Vodacom UTTP method of *135*997" doesn't do anything.

Only once I did the online method was I unsubscribed from NBA which came in via SMS notification.

LOL, I don't even watch Sports.

Is this some new way of milking us every day for R7?
Cost me 22 days at R7 or R154 of my air time.

Where I subscribed or what I clicked 3 weeks ago to NBA is a mystery.

Same experience with a family member - did you take it any further or did you just unsubscribe?
Not sure why one should have to register on pbm to unsubscribe if one has never subscribed - they pretty much throw shade and blame you for the whole affair.

I unsubscribed, on Vodacom, dialled *135*997# from the keypad and option 2) Stop All.
Funny thing is, I'm quite sure I unsubscribed this way a year or more ago, somehow it might have reenabled itself.
While Vodacom might deflect and not take responsibility for these R7 daily subscriptions, they should not allow it on their billing system, its nonsense and underhanded, R7 a day equals R217 per month, it all adds up chewing up your airtime, in my case I have R410 airtime a month which suits my needs, so taking half of my airtime leaves me with not enough for the month. Couldn't figure out what was going on. The same thing happened to my wife and daughter, they were subscribed to a R7 content service and not realising it.

Telkom had a Company called Trudon helping themselves to your Telkom account a few years back, suddenly you got subscribed to their Yellow Pages Advert and it was charged to your Telkom account. Phoned Telkom and they refer you to Trudon. Jeez, I was mad!
I think the same thing would happen here if you phoned Vodacom, they'd tell you to unsubscribe and contact whoever took the money, but it would be more trouble than it's worth, so I wrote it off.

Add up every person with a cell phone that is subscribed to a R7 content service (unknowingly) and you're talking millions in money that has not been earnt in an above-board manner in my opinion, some people would call it fraud.
