Highly disgusted with Nedbank. My boet received his new petrol card and received a call asking him to come in with a the proof of residence.
They refused to accept a Mogale City Municipal Account from my brother as proof of residence as the document said Tax Invoice on the top.
They forced him to complete an "Informal Settlement Declaration" at the police station or they would freeze his account.
HE IS NOT A SQUATTER BUT A RIGHTFUL PROPERTY OWNER.
The below is from their website. "A utility bill (such as your water or electricity account) that shows the stand/erf number of your property and your name and address .Nedbank doesn't even know the FICA rules on their own website. He has banked with them for the last 20 years

I don't actually understand why people bank with Nedbank, they have zero attraction. Their accounts suck, their fees are high, their services and customer service terrible, their internet banking is the equivalent of the ****ty HTML I was putting out when I was 12. Blows my mind really.

Had a similar experience with Nedbank many years ago..

The solution was very very simple... threaten to close the accounts if they don't follow the law... and if they refuse then close the accounts and make it plainly obvious to the retentions department that you are close because staff member XYZ refused to follow the KYC requirements for the bank.

When last have you walked into one of their branches on a Saturday?

It's pure bliss, there might be one or two people in front of you in the queue if you unlucky. At least that's how it usually goes for me at the branch I frequent.

Been with a few banks over the years, most of them are the same at stuff like this. Its luck of the draw and which consultant you get.

Because no one would willingly want to be one of the two people in the branch on a Saturday that it takes them 4.5 hours to serve.

This made me curious.
Now my eyes hurt.

Same with Capitec, and they're a lot cheaper.

My SO had the exact same thing where they refused to accept a lease agreement (valid under their rules).

Then refused to accept it again because it was a copy (the landlord lives in CPT and we never met him so there is no original, just emailed scans).

Then because there was only 6 months of validity (usually people sign for 1 year so 50% of the time you would be unable to open an account?).

Then I escalated to the branch manager who called and kept ongoing with his stupid rules even when proven wrong.

Then went to my private banker who opened SO’s account without any hassle and the same lease.

There's a new site launching soon. People need to chill, atleast Nedbank isn't down every month like some other banks.

But design flaws like picking option and then having to press go, did no one verify? The random L like character on the left for every option?
The right-hand side is a grey bar as aspect ratio has to be enforced?
The fact that a few images are the same with just different focal points so one could have used CSS to save client's bandwidth?
The not properly aligned > arrows for the ones with background images, while the ones without the feature image are correct?
The lack of consistency across the site? Home page is completely different from every other page.

Not to mention that it looks like it was made for people with eyesight problems, people can use the zoom tool if they need it...

EDIT: Then after going to the e.g. internet banking page, with all the menu options, look at the menu links. They're not consistent, some are JS redirects?
Then apply goes to nedbank.co.za/website/content, which gets redirected to a nedbank.co.za/content page.

EDIT2: FAQ goes to this weird demos page https://www.nedbank.co.za/static/demos/index.html where the financial life is a dead link.
EDIT3: And demos home of clicking on the FNB logo goes to demos home. /slow clap
This is a bank, trust/consistency/everything working is key, how was the website approved?

I don't know what goes on with Nedbank's FICA department but it's atrocious. They keep demanding FICA on the same accounts every few months claiming they have no record of it even though, in the case of one account, it has been re-sent three times in the last year! If you've ever had to FICA a trust you'll know what a mission it can be as they require FICA for every trustee including the founding member and the full trust deeds - it can run into hundreds of pages of docs, and they keep asking over and over again!! They are utterly mad.
