Hi Folks
Here's my issue: I am moving to a temporary rented house in Linden for three months in between selling and buying a house. It doesn't have an installed phone line, so no ADSL. I'll find out tomorrow if Telkom will be able to install a line and for how much, but I think two weeks may be too soon for them. Clearly, 3G is the quick and easy option but it's only for three months before I go back on to ADSL. I have a four PC wireless network at home and neither the wireless AP nor wired router have a USB port. We use a fair amount of data, about 30Gb a month and will likely have to rein in usage for the period.
The best 3G deal at the moment is Cell C's 5Gb 12 month package, but I really don't want to have to pay R2k for something I will probably not use any time after that. Then I would also need a new wireless router with USB - I have my eye on the ZyXEL ZyAIR NBG4115 (about R870) with 802.11n (being future-proof and can stream video to the XBox). Are the Zyxel's any good? I haven't used one in years.
Is this my best option or are there other ways of tackling the issue?
Input and advice will be much welcomed.

I recently had a similar issue and was running around trying to get a temp connection.
The first option I picked up was 8ta, which was about R169 once off for the modem and then you buy vouchers for your data.
But this works out a little expensive as it is R250.00 per gig. When I used it I was impressed with the speeds I got and was quite happy. I only needed it for a short while so it worked out well for me and was cheap enough.
The next option as you say is Cell C - now if you compare using 8ta for 3 months at 5 gigs per month and buying a cell c for 12 months, Cell c works out a lot cheaper

Thanks for this. It appears we're sorted. Telkom will be there the day we move to install a line at no charge and transfer the line no problem until we get to the new house. We'll see if that happens but I'm impressed with their willingness.
