Hehe. Had a guy there, who straight tells me "we don't give car remotes".

Told him to program it according to what it is now. He then says he can't program it with the receiver.

So I ask him to tell me why I was able to get my complex security remotes there 2 years ago, since I didn't need to bring the whole gate receiver from the complex. He says "some remotes don't need it".

I don't think this guy is very eager to do his job, though. My colleague came with, wanted to cut keys for his new place, the guy said he can only cut 2 of them, not all 4. He probably can't even spell "remote tester".

Tried 2 other places as well - Independent Car & Radio or something, as well as Kitwe Security in the mall. No luck.

The search continues.

that's unfortunate to hear, can you give us photos; so we can see the damage and what your actually on about?

I still think a yale should be able to help you if the button dosent work; as per my understanding;

just buy one of their remotes, open it, and use the rubber piece to cover yours; its a mcguyver way of doing it; and when moneys tight, at least try it;
nothing much to loose if its like R200 for a remote.

No one told you anything, princess.

If your response to people who try to give you advice is to be an ******, I can understand why they wouldn't be keen to help you.

If you already don't have a spare key, imagine how bad it would be if your current one stops working. Hope you find something before there's real trouble and it stops working though.

You're the one overreacting. I'm only asking you to either try being constructive, like the other posters, or stop posting. No need to get defensive.

Anyway, I've phoned them again and explained that I need nothing reprogrammed, which seems to have gotten through now, and they will sell me a brand new remote and I can replace the inner module between them, which will save me over R400.

Persistence pays off once again. Thanks to everyone who helped.

If you look closely, there's a gap in the middle, which shouldn't be there, which usually contains a rubber looking similar to this, which has 2 parts sticking out inwards, that enable you to actually press the buttons:

I have used custom rubbers that I cut out a few years ago, but now they don't work so well any more. So I thought I'd stop struggling rather, and just get a new remote.

At least Hyundai now have said I can buy it without them programming it, thus making my life a lot easier, by enabling me to just replace the module myself with the old, existing one, which is still working fine.

EDIT: Links Fixed.

pics not working properly; get a 404;

never-mind; as per my understanding your getting a new remote so your sorted; but as far as I remember on my hifi remote;
its a similar story; the rubber pad completes the circuit and that's how the remote works;
(do make sure to clean the PCB quite well, so it makes good contact)

you can basically use anything conductive that allows one to complete the circuit; bit of tinfoil also works; superglue to the bottom of the rubber part;
an old remote you no longer use, can be scavenged to be the top part;

LOL. I just added 2 pieces of rubber there a long time ago and it worked. Now, however, they have gone soft, so they don't press any longer. They didn't ever make contact in any way, unless the plastic cover counts. :p

I have fixed the links of the images in the previous post.

sorry my man; seems your google drive hates me.......

403. That’s an error.

If im understanding you right; your buttons not making contact anymore with the PCB to complete the circuit;
had something similar with my HI fi remote; used a bit of tinfoil on the rubber part; super glued underneath;

but if the rubber part is worn out per my understanding; scavenge a rubber part from another remote; or if your soldering skills are up to it;

solder a microswitch onto the PCB, thats if the SMD components not too small; and your feeling confident to try it

but I personally wont try it; too much damage can happen if your not great;

sorry ; did try on another computer; did see the photo;

you have the same issue my hifi remote had; the one volume button is sticky; and dont work properly sometimes;

superglued a tiny peice of tinfoil to the bottom of the button; the rubber pad wears out sometimes, and wont make contact, completing the circit;
do need to press harder though on it; but I assume your used to that :whistling:

I have made them different images. Should be working now.

Exactly. My poor wife can't press hard enough to unlock it any more.

can be hard for them; think of it as a safety feature:whistling:

seriously though, superglue and tinfoil works wonders, although Id try it out first before gluing tinfoil to you remote pad;
so take a piece of tinfoil and see if it unlocks,

did that with my remote for my hifi and I saw it works, need to press harder but do get used to it;

Hahaha! Clever. :D

Will see how it goes, but it should work fine now with the new remote if I just swap the insides. If it doesn't, I'll follow the above.

Thanks again man. You've been really cool and helpful.

sure anytime,
as a fellow korean car driver (picanto), you do what you can with what you got.

the stealerships just inflate prices beyond all hope, if they could sell you something for a million rand, they'll do it.
even though it only cost R2

Have you tried Korean Boyz? I'm sure one of the cars they're stripping must have a remote fob with it. Just pop your PCB in the new housing.

Yeah, was about to suggest that,
Also that car remote place is nearby to it,

If you still don't come right, worth a shot....
