Need a 40" Sony or Samsung.

Had a look at a few tv's yesterday, and was in the Sony and Samsung stores at Gateway. Liked both models for each Sony was the ex520 really nice picture, but worried about brightness and media player capabilities..MKV etc.
Cant remember the Samsung model, but also looked nice, think it was a series 5? LED as well.
How do they compare, any advice from actual owners, any buyers remorse??

It's for my bedroom so TV cannot exceed 40"

I have the 40 cx520. It doesn't do mkv's. You also have to sign up with divx and then download a special unlocking file from them and play it on the tv to unlock it for divx. As for the brightness it was actually worryingly dim and then I found some eco setting or something and turned it off and it was super bright! I think it lets you adjust from 1 to 10 manually and I've left it on 6.
 
Go for the Samsung.Basically plays anything you throw at it.Samsung is way ahead of Sony imo.Was a fanboy of Sony but really dissapointed with their technology and price.
