Need a grant to get a grant
ACCESSING a social grant in Dutywa is so difficult that one wishes one could go to another town to get service. My father went to Dutywa SA Social Security Agency office to apply for an old age grant, but was turned away by officials who said that they were not dealing with people from my father’s ward (Ward 5) that day. He was told to come back on May 26. When he went back on that date he was told that he was far back on the list that had been brought by a former councillor and that anyway, they could only take five persons per ward.
Up until now he has not yet applied. I do not have the money to pay a bribe in order that the process is speeded up. Could someone intervene, not forgetting the Batho Pele principles under which they are supposed to be serving? – Vusumzi Potelwa, Dutywa
