Need a Car, Got a feW Options, need final advice

hi guys/ girls..

alright, finally on a look out for a new/demo car. had an astra gtc (old shape) with pano roof 8 bought 8 years ago new, just sold it last week for 70k. got a small one now so need a bigger boot, and wouldnt mind another 2 door or 4 door.

have been looking for last 1 month my budget is max 200k, with 70k down and rest per month.

i live in a flat, next to a mall, and my office is in the mall, walking distance (300m).im an estate sgent that does mainly developments so i have like 4 scheduled routes, with the occasional far distance (paarl, s.west,g.bay) etc.
also has to be a comfort cruiser for the family (got a 2.5 yr old). dont need a pram anymore so thats a relief.
i have a 1400 company vehicle for the usual town trips if i want.so fuel economy is no worry..:D

the options in no order

1.2012 renault megane gt line with 38 000kms @ R189 000.

2. KIA CERATO koup 2L Steptronic with 28 000kms @ R 175 000.

ALL FROM DEALERS WITH BAL OF PLANS, DISCOUNTED AND TEST DRIVEN..

I LIKE ALL BUT THE KIA REALLY BLEW MY MIND.. NEVER EXPECTED MUCH FROM IT N VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.

what u guys think?
 
as i said, i dont mind a 2 door, the small one is 2.5 yrs old, no more pram slugging around. my old astra gtc had a small boot, and all the 2 doors i listed the kia is the boot space is as big as a sedan...i think the new gtc is just there because i was so impressed with the old one, but obviously at the bottom of my list.. i intend to keep the car for 3 yrs, so resale will also be an issue,,,

thanx about the civic, will check around and give one a test drive, the koup was on the top of my list, if i may ask, why you wouldnt recommend the koup? thanx..

My past experiences with Kia/Hyundai and the Imperial Group. Also, my colleague had endless problems with that auto box and he was getting very bad consumption figures.
 
I'd go with either the Megane or the Astra :) Convince yourself to go for a 5 door rather, way more practical for your use. Take a look at an A3 and 1 Series as well

Avoid that KIA. Not that the car is bad but I've heard from one or two people that the auto gearbox is sluggish. Might be an updated version though.

As far as the 2012 Hyundai Elantra goes - I drive the 6 speed auto. Seamless and never had a day's problem with dealers or parts. Not what I would call sporty but with the leather seats and all the car is pretty nice place to be when driving.

i really like the gt line renault, even the 5 door is nice, just abit worried about resale value, my dad has the old clio and it has been very reliable but he has to keep it as he wont get much to sell it and replace.

i just fine the 4 door astra very bland, and prefer the coupe line of the gtc, will also kp it in mind, not very interested in the
germans at the moment, find them very pricey.

the koup has the facelifted 6speed auto withsteering controls , i heard the previous 4 speed box had problems. wont the kia and hyundai gbox be the same?>
 
Not sure if it would be in budget... But look for a demo or secondhand Fiesta ST, current model. Great car, though it might come in a bit over 200 as they are still relatively new and start at 270 I think

the fiesta would be a bit small for me, but i think i should look and see if i can get a good focus st with some m,plan on?

No idea. Even though it seems obvious that they should be, my friend test drove the Koup just before I bought my Elantra and according to him there is a day and night difference. Haven't personally drove the KIA though but like I said, the Elantra's gearbox is very smooth and has quite a large boot if you were interested.

Strangely enough, the Fiesta I was in had more room in the front than the focus for some reason, while also seeming to be a better car overall. Don't know about rear space though to be honest

If you can find a focus at the price in good nick though I think it would be a good buy over those mentioned here
 
Civic is best bet if you can find one at the price.

Good auto, good consumption and well specced.

4-door but looks like a 2-door with hidden rear door handles.

Also massive boot and flexible with fold down seats etc.
 
Proof that people don't know how to buy cars...

You need a family car, not another silly 2 door hatchback.

When I suggested it, I was actually talking about the sedan. You can get a 1 year old Sedan for R180k, easy...
