I am currently looking for a cpu cooler for a intel socket 1155 that is +- R500. It must be able to fit in a coolermaster cm 690 ii advanced. What would you suggest?

Coolermaster Hyper 212+ or Cogage True Spirit.

I have the 212+ in my 690 ii case and it fits fine, but you can't have a side fan there as well.

It cools like a dream! My i5-760 is running COOLER now overclocked at 3800mhz than it did on the rubbish intel cooler on stock settings :)

Don't think there is any stock on the Hyper 212+, I was told to wait till 14/04 before I can get...

+1 for Cogage cooler, you can get it from www.wootware.co.za and they are based in CPT as well. :D

Stock of the Hyper 212+ is only coming in a couple of weeks. Cafe Viva has stock of it at certain outlets though, so maybe give them a try?

From the reviews we've read on CPU Coolers this is really one of the best around at a super cheap price.

I decided to get the Zalman CNPS10X Performa (also have 690ii/692 case) for my 1155 build, but I'll only get it later this week or even next week to see what it is like.

Other good coolers around your price:

Zalman CNPS9900A
Cooler Master V6 GT
Zalman CNPS10X Quiet
Thermalright Mux-120 (Cogage is actually a part of Thermalright)

Here is a nice roundup of a couple of those, including the CM Hyper 212+: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/lga-1156-heatsink,2535.html

Try the Coolermaster Hyper TX3, it's only R200, looks very similar to the 212, except it's taller, and with a smaller fan. (You can add an extra one if you want)

Should still fit though, it worked with my old CM Centurion case which is also a mid-tower.

Unfortunately the 1155 stock cooler is a piece of poo, the heatsink is half the size of the LGA775's or 1156's for some reason. So this one works quite well.

Edit: I see it's not taller, it just looks that way from pictures.

I concur with Libertas computers. The 212+ is incredible for its price.

@ Ono'rach: Are you using dual fans? Do you think it's worth it?

Does a cpu cooler usually limit the space for a graphic card? I will be putting a HD6870 inside the case but i am concerned that it will not have enough space to fit the card.

It shouldn't affect graphics cards.

It depends on the motherboard. I know that on some motherboards the 212 + can block the nearest Ram slot, but it wasn't a problem with mine

+1 for Hyper 212+ (have one on the wifes q6600) its not too big so ram is not in the way. I have the V6GT on my Sandy Bridge, gets in the way of my bank 1 of my ram slots.

Have a p8p67 mobo. Can a cooler block the ram slots on the board or even the graphic card space?

I have the P8P67 Pro and my GTV6 does get in the way of my ram, nothing else tho... I do however have OCZ Reapers which stand pretty high when compared to standard ram (Ram heat sinks)...

Thermalrite MUX120.

I agree that the CM Hyper 212 is great for its price, but when you have a budget that is quite a bit higher and you compare the CM with the MUX120 (as I have), you will see the quality you're paying for.

And it performs better. And it's available in black.
