First hit off google... no idea if its any good though

That's the thing. I could google, but for something like this I'd rather use something that I know someone else has had experience with. If no one helps I'll just try trial and error when I get home, but I'd really prefer not to.

Argh, ninja delete was not ninja enough. Deleted it since it was not freeware :p

If you are going to monitor someone's keystrokes without their consent (even if you own the hardware), it is illegal.

So in short, if you are monitoring just your own keystrokes then sure go ahead, if you wish to monitor someone else's keystrokes (on your machine or any other), without them giving you explicit consent, you are breaking the law.

The person being monitored will be fully justified in making a case against you.

What law is being broken? I am not being funny, I really don't know and would like to.

Thanks.

If you want it to be truly hidden you should build a hardware based keystroke logger, bit more effort though.

Why does it need to be hidden if it's for your own use?

Ref:

ACT25 of 2002 [Electronic Communications and Transactions Act]
Chapter XIII 86(1) Subject to the Interception and Monitoring Prohibition Act, 1992 (Act 127 of 1992), a person who intentionally accesses or intercepts any data without authority or permission to do so is guilty of an offence.

The following act could possibly also apply (IANAL) :
ACT70 of 2002 [Regulation of Interception of Communications and Provision of Communication-related information Act]

Thank you :)

Why are you debating the legality of this? It does not concern you what he does on his PC.

I must look around as I know I wrote one that worked very nicely and was hidden and wrote itself into the startup.. Now I must just find it :)

to spy on someone using his pc?
check what the kids are getting up 2? :)
check what the wife is getting up 2? :)

lots of reasons, not our problem to care :)

Qwik, if your lover is cheating on you, I would reccomend a Hidden Camera - reading what she e-mails isn't gonna give you a definitive answer.

i use a free app called actual spy to spy on my gf and any of my mates who use one of my pcs, get it at download.com, works very well and it can be totally hidden

Actual spy is actually paid for. Any found a crack a works great.
