My Sony Cybershot 7.2MP (some 5 to 6 years old) recently gave up the ghost. It was a DSC-P2xx. I am not an avid camera person but like to have a camera handy to take pics.

So I need to replace it. And I would I dealy like a camera the uses Duo Memory Sticks (I also have the Pro adapter).

So first choice is a camera somewhere less than R3000 that uses the stick with adapter. Failing that, a good camera below the 3 grand mark.

So after some investigation, the Sony DSC-T90 seems like it might do

EDIT: Oh at 4 grand plus i may be wary. but the 720p means it will fit in well with my plasma. aaargh.

Before you pull the trigger on that, have a look at the Canon S90. I had a chance to play with one last week (see here). The image quality is the best I've seen out of compact yet. It comfortably blows away all my CyberShots (T100 is my latest) and it's seems to be better than my G9 (which is awesome already).

I would recommend a Canon Ixus that fits your budget, or the S90 - that is superb image quality!

I really like my Canon 550D. It's called the Canon Rebel T2i in the US. It has an 18 mega pixel sensor and takes great photos. It also has 1080 HD video, with a choice of frame rates. The video quality is superb, it looks great on my high definition TV.

Thread necro time? Your second one
