Need a new Gearbox :(

Hi there,

On Sun night i was coming up to a stop street, and tried to gear down to 2nd while slowing down and could NOT move my gear lever what so ever...

I pulled to the side and saw a loooooooong trail of oil behind the car and could smell a burning smell. Obviously my transmission oil had leaked out of the car causing the gearbox to seize up :(

I cannot afford a new gearbox for the car (Tata Indica LSi '05/'06) and am going to have to get a 2nd hand one... Does anyone know good places to call in Cape Town / Western Cape where i could source something?

Also, does anyone know roughly what something like this could cost a person? Bear in mind its a Tata gearbox and not a 3series BMW or Audi A4...

Would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks in advance
 
Just called Barnetts Auto in Stikland, and they have a few Tata Gearboxes there to choose from. Can pick one up for R2,850.00. Is that a fair price?

Sounds very cheap for a gearbox...
 
More than reasonable, remember its goin to cost to fit it
 
thanks for comments guys. @jacksonc: Yea granted. Got a guy that i use for my mechanical work, so will pop past him later and find out what it will cost to fit.

Glad we have established that the price is right :P Thanks guys!
