Need a new GPU

Unfortunately it went poof about a month or so ago.
Now I am back on my old Geforce 9600, which does a comendable job, but struggeling to keep up.

I need some advise before I procure a new GPU, I am quite tempted to buy another 6750 card again, as it did the job decently before going down.
Just need to find out if there is any other cards in that price range that might be better.

As I am currently broke as fluck, I only have about R1000-R1200 to spend.

Would greatly appreciated any advise.

As our friend Murphy works, it croaked about 3 days after the 1year warranty expired.
