Hey everyone. I need a new computer, as my current one just frizzled out on me.
I am looking at two options:

Option 1 - replacing the frizzled mobo and getting a new CPU. For this I would have a budget of around R3000

Option 2 - getting a whole new PC. I would have around R10k for this

What would you recommend for either/both of these options?

Well i would get a new pc if i were you.I could get you a nice pc for a reasonable price:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7500, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 500GB SATAII Hard disk Drive, Windows 7 Professional, Proline Keyboard and Optical Mouse, DVD-RW Drive, Proline USB powered Speakers, 3 Year Warranty for a mere R5200 , then i would add a LG 19" WIDE TFT LCD , 1440 X 900, 5 Millisecond, 1000:1 Contrast Ratio, 300 cd/㎡, Blk for a mere R1200. So you get a full good spec pc for R6400.Not bad if you asked me.YOu could then add a nice screen card to it aswell.Let me know if you are interrested.
What area of Jozi are you? Also check out my signature for link to my website. (Tell your friends:D )

WAHA! That is so overpriced I feel ripped off just reading it!

@ OP PM me if you want an i3/i5/i7 system for same price as above :)

Or PM me what you require.......Glad to assist

holy shirt. Its amazing how many hardware floggers there are on myBB that I have never heard of before.

If you have 8GB Ram and a decent graphics card (which are key ingrediants in a rig setup) then I would recommend you save yourself some bucks and get a new mobo and cpu. Hopefully you have DDR3 ram and can slot it into a nice mobo capable of serving an upgraded/improved CPU than your old one! Good luck.

What actually are you running currently? Best is always to just upgrade incrementally rather than chucking everything out and starting again. The prices quoted above aren't really anything special - it's about par for hardware shops. Give us your current setup and we'll recommend something.

Build a grand one for R10k easily. Use your old monitor until you can afford a better one.

I vote for new Mobo and CPU.

But it depends on what exactly you have, cause if its ddr2 ram only then you have a problem...

Not sure where you're based (as I am writing this off an android app), but I would recommend PC International (www.pcint.co.za). I recently bought a system from them. I shopped around and they're prices were the best I could find, service excellent and after sales service is excellent too.

Anyhow, hope you come right.
