Hey guys my PC is starting to show its age and im thinking of upgrading pretty soon, budget? R10k-15k (i need 2x24" monitors in there too, so i recon R10k for the box only, I have high end peripherals and input devices so no need for money there) I have not followed the PC electronics market for a couple of years so which companies are doing well right now? My current PC can be seen in my signature below. is Intel and nVidia still pwning?

I also don't mind waiting untill after the holiday season.

Since getting a PS3 and having a large network of friends who trade games with each other, i have found myself becoming abit of a consolefag lately. however I do play SC2/GW2 and CS:GO.

Thanks for any advice. Oh also, I actually ordered my pc parts in the past from computersonly.co.za (at the time they had amazing specials). which e-tailer should I consider now for buying a PC?

Hmm ... working on a list for a decent upgradeable Mini ITX PC for myself.
If you're not worried about running xfire or SLI in future this could work:

Giagbyte GA-H77N-WIFI LGA1155 Intel H77 - R1486

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz LGA1155 Quad Core Ivy Bridge - R2359

Corsair CML8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance Lp With Blue Heatsink 2X4GB Kit DDR3-1600 - R516

Lian-Li PC-V351 - R1344

Coolermaster Hyper 212 CPU Cooler - R366

OCZ Vertex 4 SSD - R1517

Sapphire Radeon 7850 2GB DDR5 - R2776

I think that brings it to R9998

Take note that Prophecy hasn't had the best track record in pricing these last few years. I don't expect them to stay open for much longer either, I'll give them two years at the most.

OP, for R10k, this is what I would recommend:

Intel Core i5 3570K @ R2464
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 @ R1634
Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3-1600 8GB @ R227
MSI Radeon HD7870 2GB Twin Frozr @ R2999
Intel 330 MLC Series 180GB @ R1596
LG GH24NS90 @ R163
Corsair GS600 @ R767
GIGABYTE Luxo X10 @ R603
Total: R10,737

Here I'm assuming you'll re-use your 1TB hard drive - it can be re-deployed to house your larger media and your games that don't need speeding up. Its a bit of a trying time for the SSD market locally and price drops aren't happening like they should, but the Intel drive is definitely worth snatching up at that price. Altogether, your games should run at 1080p resolution with High to Ultra settings and 2-4x AA. If you prefer Nvidia, there's the GTX660 OC version from MSI with the same cooler and the same price.

You may be able to find a better chassis with a more traditional configuration, I'm just of the opinion that a reversed, upside-down ATX chassis is what enthusiasts have been asking for, for years. Cable management isn't as great as some others, but it does have everything you need, including front USB 3.0 ports.

On the contrary, I've both experienced and heard nothing but excellence from Prophecy.

Also I would pick Radeon over Nvidia as the drivers for Radeon are apparently currently better.

Their service might be good but they are nowhere near their position in the market three years ago. I don't know about their site traffic but they recently closed down their forum because they just weren't getting in the visitors they used to. Prophecy and Take2 used to be the go-to guys, but there are better options out there right now.

I've also used both Nvidia and AMD and drivers for each company don't give me or the customers I supported any major issues. Sure, some driver versions have their own peculiarities (Nvidia with the messed up fan profiles a while back comes to mind) but it isn't a case of one company is better than the other, driver support is about equal.
