Need a tough notebook

Any opinions on tough notebooks? I'm looking for something rugged - not dedicated outdoorsy - just a good strong build quality not prone to cracks and buttons falling off/fading etc.

I find DELLs are quite tough, any others?

Except you pay top dollar for a laptop that has last year's components in it.
Tough laptops: IBM Thinkpads, or should I say Lenovo thinkpads. A colleague's brother works out in the bush in Zambia and he wouldn't use anything else.
