Hi all,

I really don;t know what car to get.

Here is my situation:

1. I need a car with motorplan
2. It must be a rather large car / spacious car, because I'm 1,95m; my wife is 1,85 and we have two kids
3. So a Merc S Class with a long wheel base or a BMW 7 lwb would be rather nice.
4. But these cars are firstly too expensive for my budget and secondly socially not really acceptable.
( People frown already a lot if I drop my kids of at school in my old Mercedes E55 and that one is anyway too small inside and is getting too old now and must be replaced.)
5. My budged is limited to about R 10 k per month incl. insurance.

What cars are there that are nice, comfy and spacious and in that price bracket?

have u considered an SUV? maybe fortuner? or something more luxurious like a 1 yearl old ML or X5?
Sonata also a lovely vehicle...if you find an E class small, its gong to be complicated as that is s class/7 series territory..

OP wants a 7 series/S class, you recommend a Fortuner. :wtf:

That being said this could be the right track, SUVs offer space in spades - many options here.

Otherwise have you considered station wagons/tourer? A bit more space than your standard E class/5 series.

ALternatively what about an Audi A7? Always loved these.

Or on the topic, how about a CLS Shooting Brake? Now that's true lovely.

Not sure what your budget translates to without bringing deposit and residual into account. How much randela's do you want to spend total?

I had a look at the above and most don't even fit my basic criteria: Lots of space inside.

The Honda's: No thanks

The Audi's: Audi is blacklisted by my wife. She used to love Audi's until she had a fallout with Audi Centre Cape Town.

And yes: My E-Class is small inside. I'm tall and the seat is as far back as possible, but then there is almost no leg space for a back passenger left. And this is the same problem everywhere. Even a Merc S-Class has this problem unless its a LWB.

If practicality with large boot space and spacious is priority, then I would go with either of these.

Mercedes E-Class estate
BMW 5 Series Touring estate
If you want a SUV, a Land Rover Discovery

Get a large SUV then.

At last - someone that gets it! I have been recommending S-classes to everyone left right and centre, but no one agrees. Get one, you can't go wrong. The only car that is better than the S-class, 7-series, A8 and a Jaaaaag is... the one that upsets the luxury class.
