Hi

My line has been repaired after 2 weeks of problems where it could only sync with 1.2Mbps down and .5 up.
They have repaired that and it is back to 4Mbps down.
Since then my ping is realy messed up.
I used to have a 15ms ping to the IS gaming server now it bounces up to 200ms + and sometimes its back to 20ms for 5 minutes.
Even pinging www.telkomsa.net gives a high ping.
No downloads or updates are running at these times.
Should i relog the call - If Yes what should I logg the problem as.

Thanks

Log in on your ADSL modem's web interface, and then go to the ADSL statistics page.
Please post your ADSL stats here (attenuation, noise margins and line speed - both for upstream & downstream). Also tell us what brand & model ADSL modem you've got. It would also help to know your ADSL modulation (G.DMT / ADSL2+) that you're using.

If your downstream SNR margins are below like 10dB, then downgrading the line speed is one of the few options that should improve the stability and latencies. If you are currently on ADSL2+ mode with a downstream line attenuation of 40dB or higher, then it might help slightly to change to G.DMT mode.

Thx Pada
I will put up the stats when I get back home.
The thing is the line was working 100% for the first 4 months.

Also the Linksys WAG320N does not show those statistics or I just cant find them.
I do have a netgear router that does show them so might connect that up and post tEhe stats

edit
Just found this on linksys support forum
"You can access DSL line info at a "hidden" page at the address:

Your SNR margins are OK.

If you're now getting high latencies, then it is most likely due to a shaped account or the Exchange being congested.
Look for the thread regarding the list of congested Exchanges.

Hi Pada

Do you think this could have anything to do with it being problamatic as it is the same time my problems started to occur.
This is my exchange

It is definitely possible that it might've caused it.

I don't know much about the Telkom infrastructure, so I don't have anything more to say unfortunately.
