I have downloaded moves that are split into 2 files for CD's. Is there a way to join them again into one .avi file to go onto a DVD.

I have used Nero 8.3.6.0 movie maker and added the 2 files to the story line and exported the video to a .avi file. The single files were only 715meg each but exported as a combined file of 22.8gig instead of about 1.5mb

Did I do something wrong?

Is there perhaps better software to manage this.

did not mention that the 2 single files were also .avi

I use VirtualDub to join two *.avi files.

Open the first file in VirtualDub. Then in the 'File' menu choose to 'append' the second file. This will add the second file to the first one. The only problem you might pick up here is if the video codecs are not the same or if the audio has very different bitrates. It will however warn you if there is a problem.

Next under the 'Audio' menu select to 'Direct Stream Copy' the audio. And under the 'Video' menu make sure that 'Direct Stream Copy' is also selected. Then proceed to the 'File' menu and select to 'Save as avi' and give the file a new name. You should now get a 1400Mb file.

And that's it. Hope you come right.

Cheers

If all you want to do is join two AVI files, AviMUX will do the trick perfectly.

Another +1 for VirtualDub or NanDub. It's the tool that they use when they edit out the ads from tv episodes before uploading it to UseNet etc...
