Need advice on new ISP

I need to select a new ISP and package before the end of the month.

I previously had a Mweb 4Mbps "premium" uncapped account and then the 10Mbps standard uncapped account, both of which were completely ****. torrent downloads were at dial-up speed even after hours, YouTube and Twitch videos would not buffer fast enough (even on low resolutions) and if someone else did something as small as view a photo on Facebook while I was gaming the ping would jump into the thousands. All of this while maintaining an "untrottled" status...

What I need is something that offers very low latency for gaming, no more than 200Gb/month usage and is happy to download torrents at night.

Any suggestions?

If you were struggling with a 10Mbps to load YouTube, are you sure you do not have a line fault?
Mweb are pretty good except for being pricey and the limits.
Could you check your line stats/post a tracert?
Uploading something will always ruin your gaming, no matter what ISP you have, has to do with the nature of ADSL.

Telkom/router fault, not MWEB.

3 different routers, numerous phone calls to telkom...

doesn't mean it's not a Telkom fault. Test with another ISP like Web Africa or Afrihost before moving.

I have done all the test and have been through the whole process, its not a telkom problem.

Very abnormal, I assure you. Where are you located? Have you tested with another ISP?
JHB west rand. Moved to PTA this month, waiting on Telkom to transfer the home line number to the new house (they said it will take more than 3 weeks event though the house I moved to already has a telephone line)

I find that difficult to believe. You should note that many Telkom techies are not good at their job, you have to keep calling till you get the excellent ones, they truly know what they are doing, really respect them for cleaning up after all the other techies mess up.

Hi FFF,

I can send you my ADSL account details if you want to post some comparative test results once your ADSL line is up and running again.

Just drop me a PM, and I'll send the account details right on over. :)

sounds more like a line prob, mweb speed is not bad when ur in the limits

get a test cap account from Afrihost/webafrica (to test Mtn and IS network)

for torrents Afrihost business works the best
streaming,Webafrica

also u can login with
guest@telkomadsl
guest

and do a speed test at
http://capetown.spdtst.saix.net/

if u get full line speed low pings, its not your line, isp
but if its still crap,:( your screwed cuz getting a line fixed is not easy
and when they say its fixed, means it just "works" and not how it should be

Good luck you you, hope its a isp thing and not a telkom line prob

Yeah first post your line stats. MWEB Premium is actually pretty decent compared to most of the cheap ISPs.
