So my P7 dropped - and broke the screen, which apparently they don't repair in SA?

Since its been discontinued, my insurance says it must be replaced with the next model up, which is the P8 - now, considering they don't do repairs, I'm not really keen on another Huawei anymore.

Any recommendations for a replacement in the P8 price bracket? Maybe something with dual sim? (must be Android)

They don't repair screens for any phone in SA or most other countries, the cost is not worth it. In many cases between labour, cost of parts, import duties and turn around time it costs usually more than half to more than the actual value of the device just to fix a screen.

So pick any phone for LG to Samsung, HTC, screen breaks, especially when insure, the piss it away. Breaking your screen when insured is the cheapest way to get an early upgrade, albeit insurance fraud if you do it on purpose.

:erm: no - replacing a Samsung screen is relatively cheap - I've done it a few times, and had it done, an entire 10" tablet was done for R800.

Huawei P7 can be done privately for about R1,200 - but its a pain in the arse as they have to strip the phone from the back.

Oh, guess things have changed, first time I broke my screen they gave me an BER, the next time I walked in and asked for one. I gave them R150, they gave me a form, 3 days later I had a new phone. Excess of R250, so R400 all round, still cheaper than a new screen.

Interesting... Don't mind the Moto X - but wondering if I shouldn't just get something I know has local support, like a S6.

Meh...this is annoying... I'm undecided... maybe I must get a tablet instead and keep using this old S4...
