What would it cost and what is the process?

I am on a Vodacom contract had my current sim since 2004 and realised I need to get an LTE sim as I am not able to really use my monthly data.

We dont have special LTE sims. You just need a minimum of a 64k sim card. The old 16k and 32k cards are not supported with LTE. If you are on contract, then I can activate it for you once you have the new sim or you can ask in store for them to activate it. You can also have LTE on prepaid, but sometimes the system does no provison it automatically for you, and in that case I would need to log a call for you

Cost me R120 to do a SIM swap to a LTE capable sim on Cell C.

I believe Vodacom is much cheaper for SIM swaps.

Sounds Amazing

Costs involved for this?

I don't really want to pay considering my contract is R600 a month I sort of thought id get a new sim but the guy in the shop saif they can just use the current one since I have had a contract with Vodacom since back in the day, but I realised now that guy was lazy as a new sim would have been a much wiser choice since this phone is LTE capable?

PM me your number and let me have a look. The going rate for a contract sim swop is R60 for the new sim. No other costs involved for LTE. You just pay what you already pay for your data bundle. We just need to activate it for you, and there are no activation cots or monthly costs for the LTE service. What phone did you get?

I don't understand how Cell C can charge R120 for the same thing.

I guess they are cheaper elsewhere... :)

Ja....that is a bit cray cray. I know what our cost price is for a sim when we order it from Vodacom....and charging R120.00 for a sim swop is madness.

Exactly. Especially considering it costs next to nothing for a SIM and the SIM swap.

I thought Cell C was free like Telkom. Vodacom charge R20 on prepaid while MTN costs R2.

OK Thor.....you will need to go get a new 64K sim. I had a look and the phone you are using should work with Volte also .... so once you have the new sim I can activate both for you. When I try and activate it now I get this message because your sim is still 32K

Sim Type not correct for VAS activation of : LTE

Pop into your closest Vodacom store with ID and say you want to do a sim swop with a nano sim. Or you can tell them you just want to buy one and then you email me your cell number, copy of ID and the new sim number and I will do everything from my side. If you want to go the last route, then let me know and I will PM you my work email. I can log into it remotely and get everything and process it for you. Up to you :)

My local Vodacom is a nightmare.

Would it be okey if I buy a nano LTE enabled sim Monday/ish and then pm/email you.... I feel much more comfortable to let your capable hands handle this ;)

Absolutely. Just make sure they give you a CONTRACT sim swop nano sim. If they give you a prepaid one I cant use it to do a sim swop on your contract line.

That is the store that charged you that rate and NOT Cellc. Since Cellc stores are franchise they basically have a max they can charge for the service and I think the cap is R120 so that store decided to charge that.

Had you bought a normal prepaid simcard and called 140 to do the sim swap even with contract the sim swap would have cost you only R50 added to you monthly invoice. ;)
