Hi MyBB forumites, hope you're all well!

I've recently bought a Mikrotik RB2011UiAS-RM which i want to setup as the following (for now):

1) PPPOE so that this RB2011 is my office Default Gateway for our 10Mbps Fibre. Have got PPPOE details.
2) PPTP Server for myself and the JHB guys to be able to login and work on servers. I know what ranges i want to use...
3) DHCP Server (Figured this one out but anyway)

I've got Winbox 2.2.10 and 3.2.
I've googled quite a bit and had the RB2011 in a test scenario for a few days now but am struggling to achieve what I want... It's also hard as this will be implemented on a work network and so I need to know that my settings will work once plugged into the network as we can't afford for the network to be dropping and not working.

I found with my google searches that there is a wealth of information, most of which doesn't make alot of sense to me right now and also find that there seems to be alot of different results that will come up for a single query which is what's confusing me as i'm not sure which one's are the correct steps to take, to get the RB to where I need it.

Assistance would be GREATLY appreciated! I'm very eager and keen to learn how to properly use Mikrotik as it's a great piece of hardware and that's why i've taken the jump and bought one. Risky to do for the office maybe, but we all got to learn somewhere...

You could also head over to CTWUG forums and post there. Those guys know their Mikrotiks!

So sorry guys, i wasn't getting any notifications for replies on this thread and nothing came up in the control panel on MyBB Website so only just noticed these replies by chance now... Please see replies below

What have you setup so far since this post? I presume you can access the internet, is DHCP working, etc.?
Kinda gave up since this post. Got plenty of other work to do so this took a back seat until i could get some assistance. Used the Wizard and input the PPPoE details etc but it just never seemed to connect.

This thread http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/648040-Mikrotik-2011UiAS-2HnD-Neophyte-Ooo-Q-amp-A-ooO chronicles my "setup a Mikrotik from scratch" adventures.

It should help. :D
Thank you very much. Going to go and take a look.

Good idea! Will see what/who is available there...

Your issue may be related to NAT rules.. I had the same untill I told Telkom to f-off anyway hahah

I know Mikrotik pretty well, what have you managed to setup and what isn't working to your likings? Best suggestion is that in 2016, best security practice to keep away from PPTP and use l2tp ipsec. Pretty straight forward to configure too. PM me if you need some help and we can go through your config. As Anthro said, NAT might be causing a problem as you have to make sure you have masquaraded your incoming interface "ether1-gateway". Go to firewall>NAT and make sure there is a srcnat chain rule with out interface marked as ether1-gateway then go to action and make sure it is set to masqurade.

Just double check your pool, address and dhcp server to make sure all IPs are pointed to the mikrotik and not outbound. DNS should be set to obtain from ISP or just tick use peer DNS.

Lemme know if you come right
