Need fast international connection

I am currently in the UK and would like to move back to SA this year.
What I would like to do is convince my current employer to let me continue working from home in SA. The problem is that I have been told by a friend who has just done the same thing that the only way to get a fast enough international connection is with a diginet line. This costs way too much for me.

Does anyone know if there are other options on getting a faster international link than what is available with the usual ADSL? I'll be using VOIP and connecting using a VPN.

You can try the adsl fibre accounts with a 1mbps line, thats gonna be the fastest you'll get for cheap and its not that cheap either.

I dont have problems doing the same things with ADSL. At the most you'd want an unshaped account but you might not even need that.

What type of speeds u looking at? A fibre account will set you back about R5000 without line rental.

Can someone give me an idea on how much faster an unshaped account is with VPN and VOIP internationally?

With VOIP a shaped SAIX account is usually fine, not sure about VPN.

trust me i have an unshaped 512k account that i use for vpn to jhb and its k@k slow.

So you're okay with the 1mb line? Is it unshaped?
