I need a bit of assistance and advice

I currently have a mcsd and bi qualification i got through CTU. I have been working for a full year now as a junior alone. I would like a job on a team

I am considering studying for a bsc in computer through UNISA.

I would like to know if you would reccomend doing this or if my current qualifications will be enough for the future and getting a better job

Will it bite me down the line later? For not doing it?

Is Unisa harder then a normal university?

True, the employment dynamics change and also your individual situation, skills, experience obviously come into play. I do however think more doors open with a B.Sc, though you may enter through one of those very doors without the B.Sc and it may just work for you.

A Bsc will get you into the interviews.
So will the right experience.

With the Bsc, you will be able to get the experience faster because instead of having to start doing one thing just to get in, then work your way into what you really want to do.

Trust me, if you're young, study now! Before things like family. It get's a lot harder to find time as you get older.

I did the computing degree. It is different to informatics - it has more maths (pure maths first year, statistics second year, discrete maths until third year) and much more programming (C++ till third year, assembly second year, Python as an elective, C/Javascript in graphics as an elective).

It seems that more people choose informatics as opposed to computing.

Difficult question to answer. The two streams have different focus areas, both are good in their own way. Choose the one which interests you most, part time studies are hard enough without you having to force yourself to be interested in modules you don't like.

I also did an earlier degree at the University of Pretoria. There is nothing wrong with the quality or standards of UNISA science degrees, I can't speak for other degrees at UNISA. This is compared to my experience with my previous degree. The admin isn't great, but the standards are fine.

From another thread. (click on the blue button with two arrows pointing right to follow to thread next to the guy's username).

+1

Can't stress that point hard enough. You will never be worse off with the BSc, study part time with UNISA and gain experience while you study
