Need For Speed: Rivals [PC] - Biggest Let down so far

Hi guys,

I decided to pre-order Need For Speed: Rivals for PC, I was really liking the gameplay video's released, the features showcased during E3. I was super excited for this game....that was until I installed it and played it.

Firstly, when I installed it, I got the DirectX install error. Okay, that didn't bother me much, I told myself "Okay, this issue I can solve then I can play the game". Fine, the DirectX issue was out of the way, I continued installing. Then it said, "Install Complete". I was so happy, I even saw there was a small 60MB update to download. I downloaded that. I got excited. I finished installing then I entered the game...... :(

I got in the game, the game is frame locked to 30 frames per second :(, when I was racing, it felt so slow, and barely even smooth :( I tried changing my graphics settings to lowest graphics, even customizing the game in the Nvidia Control Panel, that didn't do jack! :( I was expecting the game to be like NFS The Run (it ran smoothly on my laptop after the frame cap remove patch).

I am deeply saddened by this. I am a fan of the NFS series, and I am really sad to say that I will not be buying another Need For Speed game again.

I am REALLY hoping Ghost Games does something about this game. The game is great, they brought really cool idea's to the table, but the technical issue in the game is totally unbearable!! :(

And to think I spent R394 to get this game :(

PLEASE GHOST GAMES, FIX YOUR ****!!!! :(

My advice to others that want to buy this game: DO NOT BUY IT YET!!!!

PS: I am sorry to throw this bitch fit on MyBB, but this what I feel right now :(
 
You should see what happens when you push the frame rate up to 60, have a look at TB's thoughts on this:

They've just gotten worse since the REAL "Most Wanted" aeons ago. I don't expect anything but mediocrity from a series that was once the undisputed king.

My advice? Give up on the IP, for now at least.
 
Hahaha, watched the video, yoh 60fps unlock is absolutely ridiculous. How can they make the actual gameplay dependant on the frame rate??

The game is really cool, just the lag and frame lock absolutely sucks!! So disappointed, and this is suppose to be an AAA game. You would assume ALL game developers test their games before selling them??

Deepy disappointed in Ghost Games and Criterion Games :( If they needed more time, they should have just delayed the game - I do not mind the game being delayed as long as it gives them more time to perfect the game
 
How can you be disappointed with this game. they've at last let you fit your car with artilery plus you can finally race as the cops! Didnt have that the golden years (read underground 2) was the last time i played before the run.
 
The thing I hate about racing video games is that it is in no way even remotely as exciting as driving a real car. So what's the point? Who cares if I have a modded Bugatti or Lambo with twin turbo's and fancy body kits? It still handles like a potato with wheels and sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

I concur. I gave up on NFS after most wanted. The new NFS games are absolute dross...

OT: I noticed that a Need for speed movie is releasing soon with Aaron Paul.

I had to laugh when he tried running it at 60 and 120fps and tried to skip the intro and tutorials.

That is like saying that shooting somebody in the face in real life is just so much better than shooting somebody in the face in a first person shooter.
 
The game is actually very cool on console.... Runs nice and looks good on my xbox 360

I really love the ideas behind the game, that's no lie. What I really do not like is the performance Issue is this game.
 
HMOF!!!!

This has to be the worst NFS game ever produced, including the Shift games.

I have played every single NFS game since the first one to this POS.

Even at 60fps it feels slow and the controls feel as if they are set in molasses, the tutorial at the start nearly had me chewing my wrists off it was so idiotic.

Fck you EA and Ghost games for ruining yet another NFS title, Most Wanted (2012) was actually pretty decent and a glimmer of light in the darkness that has been NFS titles recently and they've destroyed all of that with this.

Busy downloading Porsche again as it has always been my favourite NFS title, just to remind me of how much the franchise has been ruined in recent years.
 
Should not have installed Porsche, was up till 4 playing it :O
