Need help building a smalll PC after PS4 disappoints

So I went to Rage today and I was completely bored by the Xbox One and PS4 graphics. I'm definitely not buying a PS4 this year. I'll wait for a price drop and more games.

A) What exactly did you expect?
B) Perhaps it was ****ty demos?

Why do you need another gaming rig for your bedroom though? You system in the study not enough?

Do you intend to sit on the bed with a mouse and keyboard or what's the idea here?
I just don't get why you need a computer in your BEDROOM, mate :p

If you're looking to get your porn collection into the bedroom maybe buy a AC Ryan?

The A720 is my primary PC and it stays in my bedroom. I don't use the PC in the study. My bro lives with me and he has taken over the study PC and games a lot on it. I need a PC gaming solution for myself.

The Steambox has some pretty impressive specs and size actually so yeah. Comes in configs with up to GTX Titan (and probably Rx series when that hits in a few days). They're not mucking about. And performance should be better than Windows PCs. I'm thinking of dual-booting Steam OS when it hits, it seems like a promising idea. And the controller is pretty innovative as well.

Yeah the specs are amazing. Best part is that the components are upgradeable.

Wait, so you don't get any girls in your bedroom?
Shame dude, must be tough.

The joke was "ladies love minimalistic."

With all the hype, I expected to be blown away. I expect PC graphics on ultra with max AA/AF and it wasn't that. The Xbox One with that Rome game looked much better than the PS4 which was surprising. If they were both on sale on the day, I would have gone for the Xbox One based on the graphics of the demos. That's why I said I'd rather wait for more games as the developers start harnessing the full potential of the console. Its not a day 1 purchase for me personally, but I will eventually get it.

I think you're mistaking the potential graphics capability of a system and the current games. The PS4 is at least 50% faster than Xbox One by all accounts. If that's what you're after it will start producing some pretty insane looking games.

If you look at some of the early PS3 games they look quite bad compared to what's available now. If I were you I'd wait a while before making a final call on the PS4.

I think this generation hardcore gamers better off with a PC, both consoles are struggling to render at 1080p while with the PC with good specs will be able to render above HD if you can find an above HD monitor that is

I'd place my money on the unreal4 engine rather than crytek. Sadly it seems that the display and demoing for the ps4 and xbox was below par, reading some of rage feedback. TBH I didn't expect much either from Rage since Rage firstly caters for the [-]pirates[/-] LANers and then rest is just a side show.

However I'd hardly grab something on launch myself, I mean at 6+k a pop who would ;)

only casual gaming on consoles, master race ?

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't graphics on consoles only improve with later generatrion games due to devs learning how to write better code for that specific hardware and tweaking better after experimenting etc? I remeber reading this on some thread a while back but for all I know it could be completely bs.

Hi guy,

Let me just step in here and say bummer on the PS4 thing, I really want one, and I'll be keeping a close eye on what it looks like graphically when the game development gets rolling...

As far as a case goes? Has anyone recommended this yet?... no? WHY THE HELL NOT.

Why not wait for the SteamMachines?

Looking at the spec sheets they do not look half that bad.

GPU: Some units with NVidia Titan, some GTX780, some GTX760, and some GTX660.
CPU: Some boxes with Intel i7-4770, some i5-4570, and some i3.
RAM: 16GB DDR3-1600 (CPU), 3GB DDR5 (GPU).
Storage: 1TB/8GB Hybrid SSHD.
Power Supply: Internal 450w 80Plus Gold.
Dimensions: Approx. 12 x 12.4 x 2.9 in high.

Well that's the Demo units shipping next month, also suspect that multiple OEM's busy building their "Lounge" boxes that will fill your needs?

This! This is what I'm looking for. Its perfect! From what I've read, it should handle a high-end graphics card including the temperatures as it has that side vent right next to the card. Thanks Krvn.

Just need to decide whether I'm going to wait for the Steambox or go forward with this little baby.

No Problem. It's a real beauty. Post pics when you build.
