Hey

So, someone I know is moving a business to a new location. Not going to name it: dont want to be reported (Its in the equestrian industry incase youre wondering about the remote location) and is moving close to the following location.

17 Westridge St, Cape Town 7135, South Africa (the co-ordinates that google maps puts out take you to turkey so cant post that. lol!)

The people in that area told him that the best option for internet would be to go "wireless". I assume this means 3G?

I see 8ta has coverage there, and he says vodacom has aswell.

He is currently using a 8gig capped mweb ADSL line, with a Billion W40 router.

What would the best option be to hook him up to the internet at the new place? 3G? Please keep in mind that this is not someone who would like to keep purchasing different bundles every month: It should preferably be something that you buy and forget about. We cant wait weeks/months to see whether telkom would be able to put in a line there.

He doesnt download/use alot of bandwidth. Basically only for email and a bit of browsing.

TIA!!!:D

"Basically only for email and a bit of browsing."

If thats it and signal and speeds are good in the area, there 3G would be easiest and quickest.

8ta or cell c data package
3G router
...
Profit

EDIT: Seriously 'tho, 8ta have 120 gigs for R1800 or he could get 10 gigs a month for R199,00. Cell C have 200 gigs for R1799,00 or 20 gigs for R189,00 per month (most of those packages include a night surfer portion, check which one suits him best).
3G routers go from around R500,00 depending on the router. Huawei and TP-Link make some decent kit. All in all, it's really a simple set up.

The above ^ most definitely. Both CellC and 8ta have excellent offers. I don't think there is much to choose from them re service. They are as equally good or bad as one another

I use a Huawei E1820 with a TP-Link MR3020 router and it gives excellent consistent service, connected to CellC. 8ta is non-existent in Montagu, they don't know where it is

Thanks guys. i was looking at 8ta, but was afraid that the 3g would be bad. if its only bad for downloading its fine. ill check out cell c aswell. tnx!

2 more questions:
1.How do these 3g dongles handle being online all the time?or would a 3g router be best for that?if a router is best whats a good one on a tight budget that wont give hassles?or would a dongle suffice?
2.how will the service be when 3g is always connected?will it chow through cap for no reason?

Haven't had any issues at all with the Huawei/TP-Link combo I am running.
