Agreed Quazzi, it certainly looks like it's the only way to go if you're prepared to spend that extra money. I still don't believe we should have to try to find an alternative, but until Telkom offers a service which better suits it's customers needs, this is the way to go.

RazorWolf: ADSL plus Satellite will cost you approx R1250 per month with no cap.

If uve got the cash and are with Tiscali you wont have to worry about the cap... but there is still the port prioritisation...[V]

Care to explain musnit?

I think musnit is referring to the fact that if you want more bandwidth, Tiscali will supply you with another ADSL user account. Tiscali aren't the only ones that do that though....

Oh yes, you can certainly buy more accounts, but when does it stop? So if you want to download 20GB per month, you have to fork out another R1300 a month? I've downloaded that in the past week and all it's costing me is an extra R350. That's a big difference in price.

I think it's good that we are able to buy more accounts, but I still disagree that we should have to.

WOW - does sattelite still have port prioritisation? and is it the same speed up and down?

I'm not 100% sure about port prioritisation on satellite. I will check into that in the future. I don't really use p2p software, but I intend on installing some so that I can see if it works.

In my experience downloading is still faster than uploading, but the uploading is still pretty good speed.

Hi there me again thanks for all your Topics Sorry I am so dumb[:I] but Telkom[xx(] keep messing me around eish.

I just want to know what is the differents between The Personal Home use ADSL and the Business ADSL[?] Do u get also get gaped on that and the speed[?]

O yes another thing if u want to make new accounts how much do it cost for one account and how do the account thing work[?] Account = 3gig[?]

Dankie Man!

no - i mean do u still keep over 300 k with sattelite.
do use use adsl up and down then when capped switch to sattelite?
Is sattelite also random like adsl eg: if ure lucky u get 400 on some days...others less than 50[?][?][?]

Difference between Business and Home ADSL is basically SOKS (Same Old K*k Service). I suppose they may give you better service on Business lines but the difference in price is justified by the fact that Businesses can deduct ADSL as an expense before tax.
