Hi guys,
**I just realised after posting this that it is in the wrong spot, but I cannot delete it and I have no idea how to move it to another thread.... sorry about this**

but I need some help with choosing a treadmill. I know a lot of people is not fond of treadmills, but in my situation I do need one. I like walking, but due to work hours and the area I live in it is not feasible to walk outside. I am hoping that someone, who uses a treadmill, can help me choose something that is decent and not overly expensive. If possible I would like one that has incline abilities. It also needs to be able to manage weights between 100kg and 120kg. I am not the only one who is going to use the machine.
I also learned about non-motorized treadmills, but it seems as if there are not a lot of options available in South Africa. There are so many treadmills out there, I do not want to buy without doing a bit of research.
So anyone, who uses a treadmill, please tell me what make and model you use and if you think it is good or not.
Thanks in advance.

Totalsports tend to stock the decent home treadmills.

Trojan is okay if you are on the lighter side.

did you choose one? please share review i am looking one for my mother
Yes, I ordered a Trojan TR510 from Game Online and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. It should be here next week. I visited a few local stores to check out some models, and this one seemed decent and within my budget—though it's still a pricey item at R8999.

I chose it for a few reasons:
  1. Sturdiness: It supports weights of up to 120kg and isn’t too difficult to move around. I wheeled it around in the store to test it. It is bulky, though, so you’ll need a fair amount of space.
  2. Quiet operation: It was impressively silent while walking, even at a brisk pace (6–7 km/h). It can go up to 16 km/h, although I doubt I’ll ever need that speed.
  3. Incline options: It offers multiple incline levels, which was a key feature for me. Some of the other models I looked at had manual inclines, which are a hassle—you have to stop and adjust them before continuing.

I ordered online for two reasons:

  1. It wouldn’t fit in my car.
  2. The online price was R1000 cheaper than in-store.

I’ll post a proper "review" once I’ve had a chance to use it for a while.

For walking, focus on motor power and deck size, not speed. Look for at least a 2.0 to 2.5 CHP motor, a wide belt around 45 to 50 cm, and a solid frame rated above your weight range. Incline is useful and manual incline is fine if you want to save money. In South Africa, brands like Trojan, Horizon, and NordicTrack are easier for parts and support. Avoid very cheap motorized units, they struggle under 100 to 120 kg and wear out fast, especially with daily use.

Hi guys, after a few months with my Trojan TR510 treadmill, here is my feedback:
I can honestly say it’s a solid, no-nonsense machine that does exactly what I need it to. It’s not flashy, but it’s more than effective. The motor runs smoothly, and the incline option does offer some variety. I find the treadmill basic in the best way — straightforward controls, easy setup, and reliable so far.

One of my favorite parts is pairing it with my tablet. I’ll put on a show, connect the Bluetooth speakers, and suddenly the workout feels less like a chore and more like downtime. The Fitshow app has also been handy; I don’t use all the programs, but I’ve set up one custom workout that fits my routine perfectly. One pain about the Fitshow app is that if you want more functionality you need to pay a monthly fee.

The treadmill is big and it is heavy, but once it’s in place, it feels sturdy and dependable. The foldable design helps when I need to clear some room, and the transport wheels make moving it manageable. Overall, the TR510 has proven to be a reliable treadmill so far and I actually use it every morning. I do walk outside as well, but with the ability to watch my shows while walking, I tend to look forward to my next walk.
