Hey guys, Please help me out here, i'm wanting to play counter strike source on the SAIX server. When i go to the ftp site to download the game. Do i have to download all the files and folders in the counter strike source main folder? and if so, then what next must i do to get the game setup and running to play online?

please give me a step by step instruction on how to do this, i'm new to all this stuff. I never saw any guides on the SAIX website for how to play games there. Many thanks

no, i thought all you had to do was download the server demo of counter strike or some other game on that ftp website and you can play it online, please explain i'm confused now?

you need to purchase the game thru steam... theres no demo afaik

what about battlefield 2? its a server demo. how do i play that game online?

You'd need to buy that too.

Also, what planet are you from? Can I come visit?

if you go to the SAIX ftp website you will see inside the folder- battlefield 2 it shows another folder called server demos and theres 4 to choose from like ranked urban 1, etc.....

So now can someone please be kind enough to tell me how to play a server demo game like battlefield 2 with the ranked urban 1 map or something on their servers.

You cant. Buy some keys. The only free one I can remember thats worth playing is the FEAR they have going on there.

ok cool, correct me if i'm wrong i'm still a newbie, all i need to do to play FEAR is to now download the game folder, latest patch and the server file? Once i have done doing all those large downloads, what must i do in order to play the game online?

Or you can buy CS Source and play what you originally wanted to play instead of going for free games? How much is CS Source going for? The new one tat came out recently.

does anyone know if there are people still playing FEAR nowadays?

The server demo that is stored there is the battle recorder file.

When the server is full enough the server will activate battle recorded and the whole game will be recorded. You can download that file and then watch the game in Battlefield 2.

To play BF2 you need to buy the game for R99 and then instal patch 1.41 and you will be all good.

thanks for clearing that up for me. i misunderstood about the server demo

To check how many people are currently playing on SAIX and what games, view the "Live Server Listing" option on SAIX's site. Shows where everybody (who is online playing) is congregated, ie: what game they are playing...

so how do you connect to the servers to play online when i have installed battlefield 2 and the patch?

because i'm going to the shops to buy battlefield 2 tomorrow and i want to know how to play on them servers

You install the game.

Download the patch.

Install the patch.

Connect to the internet and register the game, create an online profile, etc

Visit games.saix.net and click on the Battlefield 2 option. Near the bottom of the page you'll see the list of servers available. Make a note of them.

Visit the Battlefield subforum and take note of what to do in the opening post of the Punk Buster thread.

Make sure that you are connected to the net and start the game, choosing the multiplayer option.

In the multiplayer window, there will be an option to connect to a server; enter in a server IP noted from the saix site above.

When connected, do as was mentioned in the Punk Buster thread...

Sorted - now enjoy playing :)

hey, thanks for the good answer. i read up somewhere that you must have route sentry with a linksys router or something like that, in order to connect and then play on local. I'm just using a locked router from Mweb that is now capped and on local. My Parents won't budge on changing their setup which sucks, so i reckon i will have to hope that soon we get given larger international caps from what seacom did and it becomes a possibility for me to join in the fun
