Need help to choose ADSL connection

For the past years, MWeb has been my ISP. At home, I used the Telkom landline with Closer Plan 5 (4mbps) and MWeb uncapped at R539 per month (We download quite a lot from the internet). I also have a Belkin wireless modem/router so everyone at home had wireless access. My main reason for staying at MWeb has been to keep my email address, as this address I have had for more than 10 years.

When I am on the road, I use a Vodacom data stick, but often find me over the 3GB limit and I find the data bundles to be quite expensive.

We are moving to Kleinbosch in the Northern Suburbs, a relatively affluent suburb. I went to Telkom yesterday to find out what the different options are (We still use the landline, but not that much)

The big disappointment is that Telkom only provides 2mbps speed with no plans to go to fibre,while the area above (Plattekloof) has fibre and the area next to Kleinbosch (Welgelegen), has a speed of 4mbps.

Using Telkom, my options are

Closer Plan 2: R206 (evenings and weekends)
Using an external ISP: R165
Do Uncapped Basic (2mbps + uncapped):R394

I do not want to only have a data stick, as this can be very area dependant as well as the access of my family to the internet.

So, my questions/problems

1. I suppose there is nothing one can do about the speed and a motivation to Telkom will not help
2. It would be nice to have my connection just with one ISP,but to change my email address will be a massive exercise. I am a member of quite a number of forums, receive all my accounts via email, etc.
3. Is there any other alternative?

Is another fixed line in place, instead of Telkom (? eg Neotel) and will the data download speed be the same?

Are there no other options? If I take the 2MBPS option, I suppose my download speed will be 4-500 kbps?
