Hi All

Sorry if i've posted this in the wrong place but please bare with me.

I'm in Cape Town - Southern Burbs.

I currently have a telkom 2MB line + 20GB cap + landline with after hours free calls for R429

My contract is due in January 2017 and i need some help in deciding whether to stick with Telkom or to switch to someone else.

I'm totally clueless when it comes to the finer details (land line, DSL line ?? these things confuse me)

Could you guys help me understand and perhaps suggest to me what would be the best route to follow.

I don't want to spend more than i'm currently spending.

Please guys, i'm totally noob when it comes to this, so please be gentle.

Your advice is really appreciated

Hi Volksieboi,

If you drop me a PM with your contact details, I can arrange for a consultant to contact you with some options.
Feel free to let me know and I can arrange it as well as a free trial account.

Best advice for someone like you is too just get Telkom or MWEB uncapped.

Thansk

Uncapped seems overkill for my usage... I'm surviving on 20GB (only just) , it feels like 100GB should be more than enough

Mweb uncapped 4mb - R429pm OR 150GB capped for R375pm

Afrihost uncapped 4mb - R399 OR 100GB for R345pm

Axxess uncapped 4mb - R395 OR 60x2GB for R369pm

Telkom... i cant make sense of their website. :( it looks like 299+286 = R585 for uncapped 4mb

But which is the best??? i only know Telkom, which has been ok with the occasional slow speeds maybe once to twice a month.

How good are the other guys in Cape town?

This is where i get confused guys

T’s & C’s apply: Pricing includes VAT. Data only pricing excludes all line rentals. Data + ADSL Line pricing includes ADSL line rental but excludes landline rental. Line speeds quoted are best effort and represent "up to" speeds. MWEB reserves the right to enforce its Acceptable Use Policy. Free Uncapped WiFi for qualifying ADSL products when you purchase and activate a Fon enabled router.

Whats ADSL line vs Landline?

I dont want my landline anymore. Just the ADSL Line.

I'm looking at moving my 10mb line from Telkom to Afrihost, I see I can save R25pm if I move OR get 20mb adsl/vdsl with Afrihost?

Tempting is it not?

Only issue with having another ISP host your DSL line is that it adds another month to you cancellation. In order to cancel your DSL line with Telkom it needs to be back in their court first. So you will give notice at Afrihost, and once it is back with Telkom you need to give notice with them.

Also makes fixing problems more of a drag than it should be.

went to a telkom store and they told me R604 for 2MB uncapped

meh...

just give afrihost or Axxess a call - they will definitely be able to help you. Afrihost has the tendency to release nice specials ever so often.

Telkom line rental is constant R189 (soon to increase) and cant be avoided.
you can however, pay Afrihost for your ADSL line rental as well (as simple as providing them your current adsl line number during the application and they will handle the transfer. Big plus is that they dont do 24 month contracts, thus you can chop and change your product with them until you find something that works.

I switches our business (25 people) over to a capped 200gb + 200gb package, and everybody is smiling! :D
