Need help with ADSL sharing idea

Hi All,

I want to get Telkom ADSL 512k and share the connection with 3 neighbours of mine that live close so that we can all split the costs. I am looking at buying this Wireless Internet Gateway:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Wireless_Access_Points.html (the Belkin one at the very top)

and each client computer this PCI card:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/PCI_Wireless_Network_Cards.html (also the Belkin one at the top)

But what I want to know is:

1. How can I share the cap? This seems like the last object in the way of me doing this. Would any ISP be willing to split lets say a 20 gig account into 4 seperate accounts (while still paying the same price) and then each person could login using PPPoE? Any suggestions on what I could do regarding sharing the cap?
 
/Me suggests using a relatively decent bandwidth monitor, purchasing 1 30 GB account, and then selling them each 10GB for the cost of the 30GB. When they exceed the 30GB, buy another.

i.e. Make it a profitable thing, that way you can actually pay for the bandwidth monitoring SW + Cache Server + Stuff...
 
I would use a linux box with Squid, use SNMP to monitor each persons bandwidth use, including there proxy hits :-)

You could probably just use something like IPcop or smoothwall though...
 
Thanks guys. I was afraid I'd have to got through mission of setting up another box to monitor bandwidth, etc.

Sorry if this has been discussed a lot before.

Would I be able to buy more bandwidth from Axxess in the middle of a month if I go with them?

Any suggestions on how to do this without needing an extra comp running 24/7 would also be appreciated. If there is a way of doing that ;)
 
If you forced to use windows, I'd say give Kerio WinRoute a shot. Its fairly simple to use. Then you just create accounts for each home. You can also set the monthly bandwidth for each account. There is even an option to throttle p2p applications afaik. Also allows you to view the stats of each user to see where all the bandwidth went ;)
 
Ah, sounds like what I need, Shrap. Is there a Linux version of this? I think I should rather go the Linux route if the PC is gonna be on 24/7 cos I'd feel safer using that.
