Need help with home recording setup for vocals

So I would like to get together some very basic equipment to record my singing, basically just to listen to it and hear how I should try and improve and maybe keep track of progress. Any advice at all on where to start?

I suggest spending a little money up front and buying yourself a Firewire Sound card for your PC and a decent mike and decent speakers. That with a good recording program will be more than enough for simple home recording for demo's and scratch tracks. Just my opinion, but I'm sure someone else here will have some better advice

If you are looking to start on the cheap, this is a good option for a mic:
It's USB so it won't need a sound card to get performance.
