Hi there guys,

being a bit outdated in the hardware department I would need your help and advice. I am looking to build a new PC from scratch (hope that it is still as easy as 2 years ago :-) ).

Budget around R7 000 and primarily used for gaming. It's important that the graphics hard supports HDMI output. Do you have any recommendation of good combinable specs and some advice? Scrren, Mouse and Keyboard would not be required.

Thanks a lot.

Define "from scratch" - do you need:
Power supply, if not what PSU do you currently have
Case
HDD
And what monitor do you currently have

That excludes the obvious -
Motherboard, CPU, GPU, RAM

I would recommend something along these lines (all the parts are from Wootware, I'm busy buying from them and so far great service/pricing but feel free to look around):

Casing: Coolermaster Elite 310 - Silver Frame : R349
Powersupply: Coolermaster GX 550w : R771
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 : R1746
CPU: Intel i5 2500k : R1919
Graphics Card: GTX 460 768mb : R1497
Memory: 4GB 1600 DDR 3 : R495
DVD: 22x DVD : R230
Hard Drive: 1.5TB 7200 SATA2 : R757

Total: R7764

You can save money by taking another powersupply, harddrive and DVD (even the casing.) The 2500K is an amazing processor for gaming and you'll have to take a 1155 P67 to make the most of it. You'll be able to overclock it quite a bit.

Also allow for windows 7 OS.

The K series chip is for overclocking. Nice to have, but you would need a matching P67 motherboard.

BTW- The 2500k is out of stock until next week or beyond.

Why do you need to add in windows 7?

.torrent and .nzb will have that sorted.

:o

Has anyone checked with Rectron for 2500K stock? Been flooded with emails from them on SB in the last few days, but haven't specifically checked for stock.
