Need help with RouterBoard 532

Hi

Got me a RouterBoard 532 sector antenna ,Compex duel band mini pci card.
Need to setup a small network for my friends to connect to

Network must be a Normal LAN type network , for file sharing (DC++) , chatting esc.

So need help setting up the routerboard throw Winbox

I have conneted the mini pci , setup my SSID and the WEP

When when my friend wants to connect , they see my SSID , enters the WEP , connected. , but we cant see each other , like a normal LAN , and share files.

Is the RouterBoard blocking this ?

Is your friend just connecting with a wireless card in a desktop or laptop ?

With things setup how they are by default on windows it uses netbios broadcasts to query the names of other pcs and populate my network places.

The way you have set it up the wireless and lan on the routerboard are on their own broadcast domains and hence you will not be able to use netbios queries.

Just bridge eth1 and wlan1 in ROS and you should be good to go if your friend is connecting with a card from a pc, If he is using an access point as a client you have more work.

For now 1 is using PC card

But how if one uses a access point as a client for the next person

Use WDS, this would make you look as though you are on same lan.

If you wanted routed and wanted to use netbios names you could use wins or simply add entries to your lmhosts files.

Normal LAN setup, but with some kinks (e.g. IP setup, and some questions)
