I have set up my telkom 100wr modem at home and did a upgrade. I set up everything but I am having a problem with the wireless settings and I hope somone can help. I would like to usae the WPA settings but i keep on getting an error on the page. I get a red "error found on page" message on the page and I can not set a password on the page.

Thank you in advance.

A picture of the page if it helps.

What browser, and what extra software you using? You may have to use vanilla IE v6/7.

That usually means that the WPA-PSK key is not valid. Try using only numbers for a WPA-PSK key.
64/128-bit WEP works just as well and is more compatible with older WLAN cards.

I also had this "error found on page" error on a friend's Mega 105WR. Will try the suggestions here. But I hope it'll work because that Laptop have never had a successful wireless connection with this router. I turned off the security and they connect at least. I can then ping&tracert Google + the world and everything - but not ONE website wants to open up or load. HELP?

Now I have another problem though. When connecting his laptop with the LAN cable, his Lappy does not want to go onto the internet as well. But plugging the LAN cable into the port that his PC uses on the 105WR, works like a charm.

What gremlin is screwing up my day here?

I also can't seem to get the wireless sorted. can't even turn it off. seems no matter what I do in terms of the security settings I also get the "error on page"....
Have you had any luck Be@sT??

'Error on page'

I had a similar problem.

I tried to reset the WLAN KEY and use my own password, but got the 'error on page'... uhm... error.

1. It seems like you're stuck with using WPA (can't change it to WPA2).
2. It seems like you're stuck with the key/password that comes with your Telkom Mega 105WR modem - it's printed on the bottom of the modem.
3. Connect via WLAN using the modem default key seems to work fine.

If there's a way to change this (like use your own password), please advise. :D

nonononoooo why are you taking this off the forum, ppl like me and the rest of south africa have this issue also. Let us know how to fix it!

I'm a technician and set up adsl every few days and every single annoying telkom router has the same bug where the WPA1/2-PSK setup wont allow you to set your own passkey. Always just "error on page" and u need to use WEP *puke* keys.

Just downloaded it and will go try it out at some of my clients, what i dont get is why routers shipped as early as 3 days ago still dont have the lastest firmware.

And just to be sure, some ppl suggested hex only passkeys will work, is that true and will this latest update unlock full alpanumeric ones?

*edit* sure its 5mnts, but same error is still there, searching is better than making new duplicate posts.. or so i'm told

Hi Lipe123,

You are right .. searching is MUCH better than making new duplicate posts ... but when responding to a 5 month old thread, it looks better if you ask if its still relevant first...

Telkom does not always do good stock rotation ... It could be the your router has been sitting on the shelf for some month, since the shops only replace when they run low on stock .. I could confirm that from the serial number if it important ... also, remember when these routers are ordered from the factory, there is also some lead time for manufacturing and shipping ... this means that we have a fairly long changeover time when there is a new firmware . As with any IT equipment, if you wish to always be be sure that you are on the latest firmware, then it best to keep checking the website. I normaly also try to make an anouncement on this forum, but don't always get there...

It is true that the previous version works with 0-9, and A-F .. it also works with some other combinations of letters which is why we did not notice it ( our "standard test keys" all worked, even though thay are not all Hex keys :o ) If you are faced with a previous firmware, and cannot update for some reason, It is quite safe to try Heaxadecimal chars.

By the way .... 99.70.6 is comming soon .. not 100% ready yet though ...

Any firmware updates for the 200VWR? The reason I want it is that my port forwarding for DynDNS doesn't work as it should or maybe I'm doing something wrong.

@2C

Well All is well that ends well.

The router isnt mine tho, I just do the isntallation for the normal ppl in town cos no one here knows anything about computers/internet. They couldn't care less if I setup all their routers with open wi-fi :P But from a professional viewpoint it was annoying not being able to set the proper passwords for the last 3-5 installs I did. So I finally decided to try and figure out the root of the problem on behalf of the technology-retarded lot here.

Cheers, i'll be off the forums another 5mnts till I hit a snag or I'm hopefully in another country where there is no telkom.

Not sure if this thread is still open or not but here we go; I have struggled with setting wifi passwords on the Mega 105WR routers from day 1 - always came up with 'error on page'. Some time ago I found that one had to use IE as the browser and that worked back then, but no longer. Now by trial and error I found that if you use only digits (no letters) and put in 10 digits the WPA key works!. After that you can change to WPA2 or Any WPA protocol. So it seems not to be a browser issue, rather the makeup of the WPA key. So try 10 digits only. Good luck!
