I need to grab icons and screenshots of programs for image editing purposes. I'm using Photoshop Elements but it doesn't have a screen grab function. Gadwin Printscreen works pretty well but it doesn't seem to be able to produce the kind of resolutions I need. I need to put icons into help files. Any suggestions? I'm not sure what the previous person used...

Thanks

Not sure if this will help you but I make the icon its largest possible size and then capture.

I think i'm actually being limited by the default resolution of my monitor - 1024 *blech*. Maybe I need to just find the icons on my hdd and grab them independently

Can't you just press "print screen" and then paste into the program? I do that with Fireworks/Photoshop..

no because it grabs the image at the screen resolution which isn't high enough for my needs.

The windows GUI & Icons are raster based, So it will have the exact same effect if you just print screen and scale the bitmap.

why not just edit the icons themselves, instead of using printscrn?

doesn't matter what app you use, they all gonna look the same - just use good 'ol printscrn if you can't edit the icons

i'd love to edit the icons themselves but they're buried in my hard drive - I'm not even sure that they exist as discreet icons.

Ok I found the problem after all - the icon I'm looking for is actually terrible quality. took another one and resized it, think that should do the trick.
