Thanks... guess I should have been more clear. I need a PATA IDE (old style) 2.5" harddrive...

Ouch. Not many companies still stock them....best is to look for an old external hard disk which is PATA, then take it out of its casing and use it in the notebook.

Buy an old POS laptop off Gumtree and strip it.

Might be a good idea! I reckon up to dual core notebooks still had PATA drives.

I might have one in my old laptop. It's a Pentium M (Pentium 4 I think). It's really old. I think it could be what you're looking for. How much are you willing to pay for the drive/laptop? It's got 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD and a DVD-Writer.

I have one for you... Think it is an 80gb 2.5 IDE HDD.
I'm in JHB for a week though and it's in Dbn.
You can have it for free, just arrange collection...
