hey! I'm using 56k modem , I have M-web broadband but it sucks, 56k modem is better :)

I'm looking for an ADSL isp... but there are so many I don't know which one to choose! The max price p/m I'm willing to pay is abot R700...
and what is a "cap" ? sorry i'm new to adsl...
thanks :D

Give them a try!
As there are no contracts and the price is good.
Plus they are open 7 days a week for signups.
I was online 10min after I faxed them.

I don't use DC++ but if it worked on a SAIX/Telkom 3gb account then it will with them.
I have a 10gb account with Axxess for R399.00 but wil have have to change next month to a 20gb account for R499.00 as I need it :)

Programs like emule, edonkey & kazaa.
They get a lower bandwidth prioritization than normal browsing and emails, etc.

oh that's stupid...

what else do I have to pay for at Telkom? should I install a line or something?

Do you have an adsl line? Else you need to get one, and thats going to cost you about R600 p/m and with only R100 to spare its going to be hard to find a isp.

I don't think so, I have a normal telephone line...
I'm confused, who installs the lines? and say I want Axess for my isp (R599 p/m) what else do I have to pay montly?
Where do I buy a modem? which one is the best? :)

hey

You have the telephone line which is a good start :D
Now Telkom will come and install the ADSL on that line for you and this will cost R404.(once off fee)
Then there is a monthly rental charge from Telkom which ranges from R449 to R699 depending on the package you choose.
Then you can buy a modem from them or from another computer outlet, the modems Telkom sell range from R799 to R999 depending again on your choice.(once off fee)
Finally you will have to pay your ISP a monthly fee for their services, the prices vary depending on your choice of ISP and the service you choose from them. i.e.3GB,6GB,9GB,etc

CAP-Traffic limit per month, and this is a bi-directional calculation(upstream and downstream). So if you have the 6GB cap then that is how much downloading and uploading you can do per month. Once the cap limit is reached local internet traffic speed remains the same but international traffic is slowed down considerably until the next month.

YAY! at last someone with usefull info! thanks a lot...
so the Telkom rental chage(R449 - R699) + the isp (axxess 20gb cap R599) = +- R1000
will be what I have to pay monthly?

No, you have to pay your auntie egbert R50 + do three turns round the golf course, paint your uncles house and eat a piece of horse poo.

After that you'll need to fetch a golf ball from Sandton Square, take it to a secret location on top of Northcliff hill and then you'll have ADSL.

whoop-dee-doo thanks, ur so funny! never read something funny like that in my life! HA-****ing-HA.
