When installing high gain antennas on the WRT54G, do you have to replace both existing antennas or can you only replace one with a high gain e.g. the TX antenna (or RX - which is better) or must you replace the existing antennas with 2 matching high gain antennas?

Depends on the type of Antenna you're installing.

Connect one of them and set the WRT to use that antenna as TX and RX. I guess you could connect both and set one to TX and one to RX, but I'm not sure if you would get much benefit from that?

Thanks so far - appears to work. Am getting a 12% - 15% increase in signal quality using the new antenna and setting RX &TX to work on the new antenna - Not getting anything more by using both as you said. Oh yes and am using DD-WRT firmware.
