I have two population groups from 2 different years (They are 10 years apart). I would like to know what the average year on year growth was between these years and then a s year prediction after the first year.

In the year 2001 the population was 6300.
In the year 2011 the population was 12 200.

The total growth was about 51.6%.

I want to know what the average growth was for:

2002
2003
2004
2005
2006
2007
2008
2009
2010

and then what the next 3 years will be if you predict the same growth rate:

2012
2013
2015

The latest data of this statistic was in 2011.

Its not homework, I just need the formula. and the numbers I used aren't the actual populations.

Trying this:

Px = Po (1+y) x

Px - First population
Po - Ave growth rate
y - Year amount in between
x - Last Population

Not sure if this is right...
 
Could it be the 12 200 divided by 10 and then just plus this amount to the 6300 of each year after 2001?

Gives you the compound per annum percentage.

6.83% growth per annum. To get the next 3 values, just multiply the previous year's value by 1.0683 in order to calculate the growth of that year, should everything else stay the same.

Well, that is probably a better bet than using info from some Random stranger on the interwebs...

@OP, just remember 2014 otherwise your calc are fscked.
 
Btw, the total growth is ~94%, the reference always being the number from which you grow...

I can not get your formula to work on my phone and my scientific calculator is dead.
please give me the growth ave. then I will do the basic calculations for each year.

Is there a reason you're presuming linear growth between 2001 and 2011? What factors are leading you to conclude that there is still enough market left to grow at the same sustained rate looking forward?
