Not in my head but on my mobo lol, I currently have 2xDIMM DDR 512MB/64x64@400MHZ and need to upgrade with more memory at least 1GIG or more not sure how to go about it! Can I continue using the above and add a 1GIG stick or another 2x512's or use the existing and add 2x1GIGS, NOTE: this is a temporary solution as I will be upgrading soon! not sure when! My board Is an Intel D915GAG and can take max 4GIG RAM
Many thanks!

If you have a spare slot get yourself a 1GIG chip, easy as that.

i just upgraded to a 1gig memory card but something in the first post makes me ask this question.

can you run a pc on a memory stick like my 4gig one?

In Vista you can use a memory stick as RAM, however I have never managed to get this to work, but apparently can be done.

Yes you can, just make sure you get DDR400 RAM. DDR2677, 800 etc. won't work.

DDR400 RAM is pricey, so it would be a good idea to buy second-hand.

Don't understand, but you should be able to get how ever much you want... 1GB stick(s), 512MB stick(s)... What ever. ;) As long as they are DDR400.

Probably a good idea to check the maximum amount of RAM supported by your motherboard. Could be 2GB on older boards. Google the model number and you should find the info.

I'd look at online classifieds such as MyBroadband Classifieds or Gumtree.

OK So I need to get 1GB DDR 400 (or more as my board supports 4GB) correct!
Thanks very much fo the info!

Now to look for 2nd hand sticks!

Apologies what I'm trying to say is I already have 2x512's so in order to push it up to 2GB I can add another 1GB correct?...BTW my board supports 4GB

Correct. Or another 2 x 512MB.

There's tons of DDR400 RAM on the Cape Town Gumtree, I'm sure someone would be prepared to post. :)

Nothing there, there was in November but suspected already sold but have sent message! :(
